Dog First Aid Kit.

I used to keep what I thought was the basic first aid stuff on hand. However, after Trooper had a couple issues with his paws, I realized I wasn’t keeping the right kind of stuff in my cabinets. I recently took a dog CPR class and that is where we discussed first aid kits. I didn’t want to put a bunch of unnecessary things in my kit so I created a first aid kit that was tailored to my needs. Here is a list of what I put in my first aid kit. Keep in mind that you can tailor it to your needs as well.

-Bandages of all different sizes

-Gauze pads and self adhesive wrap

-Kids scissors to cut the wrap

-Tweezers to pull out an foreign objects

-Dog nail trimmers

-Small Washcloth

- Neosporin

-Benadryl

- Dog Aspirin

-Wound Wash (it is a specific saline solution you can find at Walgreens)

-Hydrogen Peroxide

- Q tips

-Chicken broth in case a dog needs a little pick me up

-Honey

-Thermometer (mind you, this is always done rectally on a dog)

-Some form of lubricant for the thermometer

-Bottle of water to wash your hands

-Small container to hold all of your objects

I also created an on the go first aid kit to put in my car. This one holds pretty much only the necessities for an accident while you are out and about. This kit is meant to just get you to the nearest clinic. In this kit I have:

-A few bandages of different sizes

-Gauze pads

-Wrap

-Kid scissors to cut the wrap

-Q tips

-Neosporin

-Poop bag

-Washcloth

-Small container to hold everything

If you are traveling with your dogs, it might be a good idea to bring the bigger first aid kit. Just in case something happens during your stay which would require longer term items.

And for now,

Xoxo
