Well, after many injections (25 to be exact), multiple ultrasounds, plus 3 trigger injections, I am finally ready for my egg hunt; IVF style. It’s the day before the greatest Easter Egg Hunt of all time. I remember as a child enjoying running around the house looking for the hidden eggs. Is that what my doctor feels like on retrieval day?? Afterwards, I would sit in awe of how many I had! My ultrasounds have shown that I now have 9 follicles ready to release eggs of an appropriate size. I also have 6 that may be ready come time of the retrieval. We won’t know until after the surgery exactly how many they were able to extract. Again, we want the most optimal eggs for the best chances of successful embryos. My retrieval is set for a day early because my body was ready to go! I had one follicle growing at an immense speed (clearly it wanted to win!) so that is why I had to have my retrieval early. I wasn’t aware that there was a competition going on inside my body. My body is tired, my mind is tired. It’s been a long journey so far. I am feeling very at peace right now. This may sound morbid, but I think it’s like when someone is ready to die. They have done everything in life and the only thing left to do is go in peace. That’s how I feel. I’ve had my ups and downs, I have done all of my prep work, there is nothing left to do. I am ready. The best part of the Easter egg hunt as a kid was finding all the goodies tucked away in the eggs. With this retrieval, the best part will be all the little “goodies” that come out of this; embryos.
And for now,
Xoxo
