Have you ever heard of microchips for your pets? It is a small chip that is inserted in the back on their necks that if they get lost can be scanned and your information will come up. It’s kind of a cool concept (not for humans, because that would just be creepy). I see this as a form of back up to the physical pet id tags that hang on their collars. If you have a dog that is known to be a runner, you might want to consider having them chipped. I had first heard of it when I got Trooper from the humane society. At that particular location, they chipped all the dogs that came in. Trooper is a major runner. He actually found himself at the humane society because he ran so far and got his leash wrapped around a tree and stuck. He obviously did not have any physical tags on him at the time. Maybe, at one point he did, but they might have gotten ripped off. This is a prime example of why microchipping is a good idea. Now, if Trooper ever runs and his tags fall off if he is brought to any humane society, they can scan him and my information will come up. It is extremely inexpensive also. We just recently had Bean chipped because she was undergoing a surgery that would require her to be out anyway. For her, it cost $25 for them to insert it and then there was a one time fee of $45. Trooper’s account is with a different company which was a one time fee for $19.99. I think for a lifetime of a peace of mind this is totally worth it. Frankly, I think they could charge more but don’t tell them I said that.

And for now,

Xoxo
