This one is a doozy, try to keep up. After being on birth control for 17 days, we had a med appointment to go over my medications and injections and go over the upcoming schedule more in depth. The nurse sat down with her box full of demo meds and said, “Did you receive your meds in the mail yet? They should have come.” I said…. “No.” And then my heart sank. I knew. Here is the back story. A couple weeks prior to this, when I went to go pick up my birth control at the local Walgreens, the employee was super confused like she had no idea what I was coming to pick up. Shen then told me that there were over ten different prescriptions in there and didn’t know which ones to fill. I was so confused also and just said all I need is the birth control. She gave me the birth control and I was on my way. I didn’t think it was a big deal until now, fast forward back to the conversation with the nurse. Oh. No.…….They sent all my specialty meds to the wrong pharmacy. And I need these. In 5 days. Walgreens doesn’t even keep these medications on hand. They special order them also. Oh. my. The nurse checks her notes and says “Oh, it looks like they were never sent in.” “Let me look into this.” And leaves the room. Yes, yes you better look into this. That’s a big oops. Not even sending in prescriptions? Um? Why on earth would they send them to Walgreens who doesn’t even fill those medications. My mind is just boggled at this point. Whose running this place? The same people as my last IVF clinic?? APPARENTLY. She comes back in the room and says she is going to try to get this taken care of today. I left that appointment feeling very frustrated and anxious. Another low. However, that nurse was amazing and she got everything sorted out and it was sent to the original specialty online pharmacy I was going to use. That simple? No. That pharmacy then came back and told me I was out of network and everything would be cash price. However, if I contacted CVS Caremark Specialty Pharmacy who my insurance is with, they might be able to give me a better price because they would be in network. So here I go, calling Caremark to get pricing to figure out what is going to be the best route. Not only that, I need to make sure they are going to have it to me on time!! Thank goodness they got back to me fairly quickly and I was able to order everything (except one intentionally). And oh, I also saved $1,100 because I switched to the in network pharmacy my ivf clinic didn’t even suggest. Originally when I first started this process, my IVF clinic had told me that they order all my meds, ship them directly to me, and take care of all that. Welp, I guess I am glad they didn’t because they would have ordered them from a not in network place that would have cost me $1700. Good to know, yet another reason why I can’t trust them. Again, just give me the embryo, I’ll do it myself. My meds were delivered on time. They say all is well that ends well. I guess that could be true. Maybe.

And for now,

Xoxo
